Onion Effective In Facilitating

On my search to find faster more effective ways to grow my natural hair, I found this.

Onions, yes onions.

If you were like me who never knew onions had some nutritional values, then you must be as shocked as I was to find out what I did about these vegetables. I have included some of the recipes I tried on my hair below and proved effective but have not had the chance to try them all yet.

Onion has a high concentration of sulfur that helps with numerous hair conditions that cause hair to fall out. But it is necessary to understand the structure of your hair and the causes your hair fall in order to understand why onion is an effective remedy.

Hair is made up of proteins, out of which keratin gives hair its strength. This is because of the abundance of sulfur present in it. It is the chemical bonds that sulfur forms that determine the texture of your hair, as well as its health. In fact, hair loss has been linked to the absence of high sulfur proteins. Methylsulfonylmethane is a highly absorbable source of sulfur, which is found in onions. It helps with the formation of keratin in hair, which results in hair growth.
Recent research has shown that the topical application of onion juice can help with alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an auto-immune disease where the body attacks the hair follicles and these result in spot baldness. Onion juice helps with the re-growth of hair in the spots where the hair has fallen out.

For those of you also suffering from dandruff, surprisingly, onions juice works magic on your hair and scalp. All you have to do is,
  • Mix Aloe Vera gel with onion juice and apply this mixture to your scalp and lightly massage it in. This mixture will help soothe an itchy scalp. Leave this for about ten minutes and rinse.
  • Take 1 tsp of olive oil and mix it with 3 tsp of onion juice. Apply this mixture on your scalp and hair. You can wrap a hot towel over the hair for a ½ hour and wash it off with the help of a mild shampoo to treat dandruff in an effective manner.
  •  Mix 1 teaspoon lime juice, 5 teaspoons of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of onion juice in a mixer. Now, apply this mixture on the scalp and wash this after 20 to 30 minutes. This will help treat dandruff and clear flakes.
  •  Vinegar is a rich source of potassium and hence is useful to treat dandruff. You can mix apple cider vinegar and onion juice and massage on the scalp for 5 to 7 minutes.
  •  Beat 2 eggs and add some onion juice to this. Apply this evenly on the scalp and wash off after an hour. Eggs are a good conditioner for dry hair caused due to dandruff.
  • Apply 2 tbsp of apple juice mixed with 2 tbsp of onion juice. Leave this on the scalp for about 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly.

But note that, Onion has a very strong smell as we all know, so after this treatment, wash hair thoroughly using lemon juice and warm water.
